Barefoot In Urban Spaces

Barefoot In Urban Spaces

Being barefoot outdoors has always been seen as a sign of poverty. Shoes have become a sign of prosperity, and in the world we live in today, rightfully so.
With the streets filthy, uneven, not maintained, wearing shoes is a necessity and not a choice.

This wasn’t always the case. Heels for a matter of fact were invented not as a fashion shoe, but for cavalrymen for better grip while riding horses.

There are still villages and towns all across the world where people still walk barefoot. Not out of compulsion or poverty, but maybe because they know something that we do not.

Being barefoot for the majority of the day offers benefits like no other-

  1. Grounding- walking barefoot means you are grounded. There is less inflammation in your body and your mind is clearer.

  2. Better foot function - being barefoot simply means better awareness and control and in effect, stronger feet.

  3. Agility and adaptability - walking on different kinds of surfaces allows the body to train itself to be more agile and adaptable to all kinds of varied surfaces, meaning less problems in old age.

It is unfortunate that the world we live in today does now allow for a big part of us, especially in India to be barefoot safely.
This is where barefoot shoes come in handy.
The benefits of being barefoot without the safety hazard.

This is what Zen Barefoot is trying to bring to the world.
The awareness, the idea, the accessibility.
