Sock shoes

Barefoot Shoes Or Sock Shoes

A lot of people think of barefoot shoes, socks and sock shoes as the same thing and I see where they come from.

To some extent, they all are quite similar.
All of them are super thin and flexible, enable the toes to spread wide and even feel like you're almost not wearing everything.

Here is my take on what should be worn where.

Socks are simple. Cover your feet, keep them warm in some cases, prevent chafing in shoes if the shoes are stiff, and keep things hygienic all in all, and that is about it.
They are quite slippery sometimes, can roll up around your foot and hence don't offer stability per se.

Sock shoes are a hybrid. These are socks that are dipped in a rubber solution that gives it a more protective and stable sole.

Sock shoes can be worn outdoors, but a little more care is needed if you are new to barefoot walking and you will feel the ground almost as much as you would in socks.
One small little complaint that comes in with sock shoes is the fact that the rubber granules come off frequently.

Barefoot shoes are practically shoes. A proper sole, a regular shoe construction, only the upper is super flexible and wide to give you the protection you need outdoors, while maintaining free movement ability.

Between a sock shoe and a barefoot shoe, sock shoes give you more ground feel which can be good or bad depending on what your goal is with the movement.
Within a controlled environment, sock shoes can be amazing, but barefoot shoes offer a wider application all in all. Also, from a fashion and social acceptance point of view, barefoot shoes don't odd you out.

Both great options with their own merits.
What's your pick?
