Why Indians Need Barefoot Shoes More Than Others

Barefoot shoes in India are still a new concept. Our assumption is that most people reading this are quite new to the idea. If you are one of them, we got you covered.

Barefoot shoes are simply shoes designed around the human foot. They’re not customised shoes, but they are shoes that are designed to be wide, flexible and thin so the feet are the main character, and not your shoes. This makes them healthier, and more sustainable as a choice.

Indians are a little late to the party, but we believe that Indians as a community require barefoot shoes the most.

India is an agrarian community. Has been from the very beginning. It is also a hot place. People have not worn shoes for the majority of their lives.

A lot of these cultural features is a reason why Indians have broad feet in general when compared to European and American shoes.

Our feet are much wider for the same length. And not just men, but women as well.

Wearing flip flops, sandals, being barefoot in temples and homes all contribute to this feature of ours.

Indian roads do make it tricky for other features like the thin sole to be seen as a feature. It comes across as a safety hazard. And that is why in Zen Barefoot, our soles are made of rubber, that allows them to be resistant to piercing from sharp objects.

The human foot is an engineering marvel. Carrying the entire boy’s weight, propelling it forward as you run and you walk. It is important to realise the importance of good foot health that allows you to live a bigger and fuller life.
